I’ve owned my Cesca chairs for about 5 years and they're starting to show a little sign of wear, there's no need to invest in new expensive chairs just yet. By revamping them with black Rustoleum semi-gloss spray paint, I can give them a fresh new look and prolong their lifespan. This cost-effective solution allows me to enjoy my chairs for much longer without compromising on style or quality.
If you have Cesca chairs that need a fresh new look, using black Rustoleum semi-gloss spray paint can give them a modern and stylish update. With just a few materials and some simple steps, you can transform your chairs into eye-catching pieces. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to spray paint your Cesca chairs:
Materials Needed:
Mask or respirator for protection against fumes
Screwdriver
Step 1: Prepare
Choose a well-ventilated area to work in, preferably outdoors or in a garage with the door open. Lay down a drop cloth or old newspaper to protect the floor from paint overspray.
Step 2: Disassemble the Chairs
Use a screwdriver to remove the seats and backs of the chairs. This will allow you to paint each part separately and ensure an even finish.
Step 3: Clean the Chairs
Wipe down the chairs with a damp cloth to remove any dust or debris. This will help the paint adhere better and result in a smoother finish.
Step 4: Mask Off Areas You Don't Want to Paint
Use painter's tape to cover any areas of the chair that you don't want to be painted, such as the metal frame or the cane/wicker backrest. Cover the surrounding areas with kraft paper or regular paper to prevent overspray.

Step 5: Apply the Spray Paint
Shake the can of black Rustoleum semi-gloss spray paint vigorously for a minute or two. Hold the can about 8-12 inches away from the chair and apply thin, even coats of paint. Start with a light coat and allow it to dry before applying additional coats. This will help prevent drips and ensure a smooth finish. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions on the spray paint can for best results. I used 2 cans of spray paint for 4 chairs.

Step 6: Allow Drying
After applying the final coat of paint, allow the chairs to dry completely. Follow the recommended drying time on the spray paint can, as it may vary depending on the brand and environmental conditions. I decided to let it dry for 24 hours to ensure it’s completely dry.

Step 7: Reassemble the Chairs
Once the paint is fully dry, carefully remove the painter's tape and paper. Reattach the seats and backs to the chairs using the screwdriver.
Step 8: Enjoy!!
Now that your Cesca chairs have been spray-painted with black Rustoleum semi-gloss paint, you can proudly display them in your home or office. The new black finish will give them a fresh, contemporary look that is sure to impress.
Remember to follow safety guidelines when working with spray paint, including wearing a mask or respirator to protect yourself from fumes.
Hope you ENJOY your new chairs!!!
